US company Sycar said it would soon supply another liquefied natural gas shipment to the South American nation of Ecuador following the first LNG ISO container delivery earlier in January 2022.
Sept 4 (LNGJ) - Monaco-based LNG shipping company GasLog said it signed a 10-year time charter with the China-led power project company Sinolam for the provision of an LNG floating storage unit (FSU) for a joint LNG import terminal and related gas-fired power project being developed at Colón on the Caribbean coast of Panama.
The time charter is expected to be fulfilled through the conversion of the “GasLog Singapore”, a 155,000 cubic metres capacity vessel with tri-fuel diesel-electric propulsion and built in 2010. “The required modifications are such that, as well as being FSU-ready, the vessel will still be able to trade as an LNG carrier following the conversion works,” explained GasLog.
Panama is expected to become the newest LNG importer as the country prepares to take its first LNG shipment at the Costa Norte regasification facility at the port of Colon, near the entrance to the Panama Canal on the Atlantic Ocean.
Feb 6 (LNGJ) - AES Corp., the US company that brought LNG to the Caribbean with its AES Andres import terminal in the Dominican Republic and with a project planned in Panama, has started a corporate overhaul as part of a strategy to simplify its portfolio. “Our new structure will accelerate our transformation to an energy company of the future,” said Andrés Gluski, President and Chief Executive of the Arlington, Virginia-based company. Among its measures, AES intends to reduce operating areas to just 16 countries instead of the current 28 nations, though will stick by its LNG assets and plans.
