Chinese liquefied natural gas imports rose 4.3 percent in April as the demand momentum remained high because of new supply contracts and import facilities to underpin increased economic development activity.
China imported a record amount of LNG in January, breaking the previous record set in December, as cold winter weather set in and natural gas replaced coal and coke in northern cities under a state campaign to reduce air pollution.
Chinese LNG imports in December rose by 34.8 percent to a monthly record of 5.03 million tonnes compared with the 3.73MT logged in December 2016, according to data from the General Administration of Customs.
