The Mozambique government said US energy giant Exxon Mobil and partners such as PetroChina have finalized their investment plan for the southeast African nation’s Mamba LNG project backed by offshore Rovuma Basin resources and would hold a signing ceremony on October 8 in the capital Maputo.
US energy company Anadarko Petroleum has held talks in Maputo with Mozambique President Felipe Nyusi and outlined plans for a June 18 final investment decision and celebration for Mozambique LNG, even as Anadarko is the subject of a bidding battle between Chevron Corp. and Occidental Petroleum Corp.
Mitsui & Co., the Japanese trading house and stakeholder in the Mozambique onshore LNG project led by Anadarko Petroleum of the US, said it expected a final investment decision on the joint venture by the end of the year.
Anadarko Petroleum Corp., one of the main participants in projects to develop liquefied natural gas production in Mozambique, said the project joint venture had made “meaningful progress” in an agreed citizen resettlement process to prepare an onshore location for the construction of the large-scale liquefaction and export plant.
