Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation, the biggest Chinese owner and operator of oil and gas vessels and with a growing number of over 40 liquefied natural gas carriers in its fleet, has approved an investment in three LNG carriers for the Russian Arctic LNG II project of Novatek and its partners.
Teekay LNG Partners, whose gas group units own, charter or have stakes in 77 vessels, including 47 liquefied natural gas carriers and 30 liquefied petroleum gas or multi-gas vessels, reported a first-quarter net loss while adjusted revenues increased.
Lloyd's Register, the UK maritime classification society, has signed an agreement with a group of six Chinese companies to design and develop an LNG carrier with membrane-type containment tanks with total capacities of 220,000 cubic metres.
