A new North American LNG company said it was proposing to build a $12 billion LNG export plant in Southeast Alaskan waters near the Canadian port of Prince Rupert in British Columbia.

The Canadian Woodfibre LNG project proposed for the district of Squamish in British Columbia has reached final agreement with the Squamish First Nation, giving the native people benefits of more than C$225 million (US$170M) in cash over the planned 40 years of operations.
