Sept 17 (LNGJ) - Sembcorp Marine of Singapore said its wholly-owned and operated Brazilian subsidiary, Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA), has crossed a significant operational milestone with the completion of its first floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) project. The P-68, a newbuild FPSO vessel, has left the Brazilian shipyard and will be deployed to the ultra-deepwater Berbigao and Sururu fields in Brazil’s Santos Basin.

   Sembcorp. said the vessel was constructed for Tupi BV, a consortium comprising Brazil’s Petrobras, France’s Total, Shell and Galp-Sinopec Brazil Services. EJA’s P-68 work scope includes fabricating six modules, pipe-racks and a flare, and integrating them on the vessel.

Jan 12 (LNGJ) - Norway-based aluminium company Hydro has signed accords with the northern Brazilian state of Para and the Brazil unit of Royal Dutch Shell for imported LNG to replace fuel oil consumption at the Alunorte alumina plant, the largest in the world. The agreements were signed in the city of Belem by Hydro Chief Executive Svein Richard Brandtzaeg and the other parties. Hydro said the accord with Shell outlines terms for delivery of LNG and the establishment of necessary infrastructure close to the Alunorte plant. “Hydro aims to be carbon neutral from a life cycle perspective in 2020,”said Hydro CEO Brandtzaeg. Alumina is used as a refined compound for the smelting of aluminium metal.

Aug 19 (LNGJ) - Brazilian energy company HRT is in talks with Russia's Rosneft and Brazil's state-owned Petrobas about a work plan for the monetization of for the monetization of gas in the Solimoes basin in the Amazonian jungle through LNG.

"In the coming months, [we] will establish the steps and responsibilities, prioritizing the options in the scope of natural gas converted to LNG and the electric power generation, both of which are critical inputs for the development of the region and the country," HRT said in a report.
