Teekay LNG Partners reported a jump in net income in the third quarter as the shipping company prepared for a December vote on a deal worth $6.2 billion to become the latest LNG fleet to be taken over by, or merged with, US equity fund interests.
Teekay LNG Partners, the US affiliate of the tanker fleet owner and operator of almost 50 LNG vessels, said it secured charters on three LNG carriers at attractive rates and was preparing to start the floating Bahrain LNG terminal in the Gulf as it swung to a net profit from a previous loss.
The Gulf kingdom Bahrain, set to start LNG imports soon, has signed an exploration and production sharing agreement with Eni, the Italian energy company with a recent record of huge natural gas discoveries offshore Egypt and Mozambique.
Bahrain said it would receive shipments from a variety of liquefied natural gas suppliers when the Gulf kingdom's first floating import facility comes on line in May.
The Kingdom of Bahrain said it would receive its commissioning cargo from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company when the facility becomes operational in 2019.
Bahrain has completed the construction of the jetty and offshore sections of its first LNG import facility at a location about 5 kilometres from the existing breakwater at the Khalifa Bin Salman Port and the terminal is on schedule for completion in 2019.
Bahrain is moving forward with development of its discovery of extensive tight oil reserves amounting to 200,000 barrels per day and deep natural gas resources of between 10 and 20 trillion cubic feet, though the Gulf kingdom still intends to become an LNG importer by 2019.
May 9 (LNGJ) - Smit Lamnalco, the Dutch tug and towage company. said it was selected by the National Oil and Gas Authority of Bahrain to provide marine services to the planned Bahrain LNG Floating Storage Unit. The company said its contract was for 20 years. Smit Lamnalco will deploy four LNG terminal-compliant tugs to provide escort, berthing and un-berthing of LNG carriers at the Bahrain import terminal to be located offshore about five kilometres east of Khalifa Bin Salman port. The Bahrain project is aimed at supplementing natural gas production in the Gulf kingdom and ensuring capacity to meet peak-season demand and industrial growth.
The Gulf kingdom of Bahrain said it had received project financing of $740 million and was proceeding with the development of its first liquefied natural gas import facility, scheduled to come on line in early 2019.
Oct 5 (LNGJ) - JGC Corp., the Japanese LNG and energy engineering company based in Yokohama, said its Middle East subsidiary JGC Gulf International was awarded a contract for a gas pipeline and storage tank construction project at Awali in the kingdom of Bahrain, planned by Bahrain National Gas Expansion Co. The contract covers engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services and is scheduled for completion in September 2018. The value of the lump-sum turnkey contract is just less than $100 million
