Russian natural gas pipeline supplier Gazprom said it was ready in technical terms to build new gas pipelines to Turkey via the Black Sea and building on existing TurkStream and BlueStream links rather than restoring the damaged Nord Stream pipelines linked to Germany under the Baltic Sea.
Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said he expected Chinese banks to sign financing deals for the Arctic LNG II export project already under construction on the Gydan Peninsula in northern Siberia and was also seeking the resolution of a tax dispute involving China at the Yamal LNG plant.
Russian fleet owner Sovcomflot and Sakhalin Energy, operator of the LNG plant in the Russian Far East, signed long-term time-charter contracts for two existing LNG-powered tankers, which will be re-fuelled at the liquefaction and export plant.
Nov 29 (LNGJ) - The Russian and Ukrainian energy ministries and state gas companies are still meeting in Vienna in Austria to discuss Russian natural gas supplies to Ukraine and onwards to Europe. The existing supply deal between the two nations expires on December 31. The two sides have agreed to intensify talks in the coming days, having failed to achieve results after several previous rounds.
Russia was represented by the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Alexander Novak, and Gazprom Chairman Alexey Miller. On the Ukrainian side were Minister of Energy Alexey Orzhel and executives of the Naftogaz Ukrainy company and the gas transmission system operator of Ukraine.
“An exchange of proposals on resolving issues facing the parties took place, and agreements were reached to intensify work in a bilateral format in the coming days,” said Gazprom.
Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said his nation planned to obtain a 20 percent share of the global liquefied natural gas market thanks to its abundant natural gas reserves, particularly in Siberia where the Yamal LNG plant is operating and several other ventures are planned.
Novatek, the main shareholder in the Yamal LNG export project in Siberia and one of Russia’s largest natural gas producers, confirmed that Saudi Arabia’s energy company, Saudi Aramco, was interested in joining its Arctic LNG-2 export project as a partner.
