The Premier of the Canadian oil and gas province of Alberta said the provincial government aimed to invoke the sovereignty act to reject Federal clean energy regulations aimed at Alberta’s gas-fired power plants.

TC Energy Corp, one of the largest North American pipeline companies, said the Canadian federal government approved the expansion of the Nova Gas Transmission Ltd (NGTL) system moving the huge natural gas resources from the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin to markets.

Pembina Pipeline Corp. of Canada said it was still on track to develop the Jordan Cove LNG export project at Coos Bay in the northwest state of Oregon as it reported an increase in profits while seeking to boost future earnings with the acquisition of a major Canada-US pipeline from Kinder Morgan.

Canadian political tension over energy and environmental policies and the development of natural gas, LNG exports and minerals are escalating as ministers in three provinces have rejected the approach of the federal government in Ottawa, saying it offered no real solutions to carbon emissions beyond taxing hard-working families and businesses.

KBR, the US energy and LNG engineering company, said it was awarded a contract by Toronto-listed Pieridae Energy for a two-Train export facility at Goldboro in the Canadian Atlantic Coast province of Nova Scotia as the German-backed venture moves closer to its final investment decision.

Steelhead LNG, developer of the near-shore export plant proposed for Vancouver Island, is currently investigating the pipeline route to bring feed-gas from the Chetwynd area of northeast British Columbia to Sarita Bay on First Nation-owned land.

Pembina Pipeline Corp., the Canadian owner of the Jordan Cove LNG export project in the US northwest state of Oregon, said it would be developing additional pipeline and terminal infrastructure in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia while pursuing the US liquefaction venture.
