The Royal Dutch Shell-led Prelude floating liquefied natural gas project offshore northwest Australia has begun production and will add 3.6 million tonnes per annum of LNG to output that will help make the nation the world’s largest producer in 2019.
Chiyoda Corp., the leading Japanese project engineer, was awarded a pre-front-end engineering and design subsea contract along with a partner for the Indonesian Abadi natural gas field in the Arafura Sea that will underpin an onshore LNG export project.
Inpex Corp. also celebrated the sail away from the shipyard in South Korea towards Australia of Shell’s “Prelude” floating LNG project hull because of its shareholding in the joint venture.
Inpex Corp., the Japanese energy company and Asia-Pacific LNG project developer, said it had been instructed by the Indonesian government to re-propose a plan of development for the Masela Block natural gas resources previously planned as a floating liquefaction venture.
Indonesia has confirmed it has decided against a proposal by Japanese energy company Inpex Corp. for the Abadi Floating LNG Project in eastern Indonesian waters and will instead proceed with plans to process the gas resources onshore.
