Statoil, the Norwegian energy company developing the Snøhvit LNG project in the Barents Sea, Europe's first liquefaction plant, will take delivery of an Egypt LNG cargo in the next two weeks from BG Group of the UK to help fire-up its plant at Hammerfest and provide power.

ConocoPhillips, whose main Middle East interest in LNG is the Qatargas III project, says the US should move away from policy discussions about "unreliable" foreign energy and start sending clear signals to its production partners that their contribution to US energy security is vital.

Nederlandse Gasunie, the Dutch natural gas network company and owner of the $660-million Balgzand-Bacton Line (BBL) pipeline connecting the Netherlands and the UK, said on Friday it has started to ship commercial quantities through the subsea system.

Newfoundland LNG of Canada said it submitted documents for  environmental impact approval of a liquefied natural gas trans-shipment and storage terminal complex to serve  the northeastern United States and Canada.
