European maritime classification society DNV said that ship owners placed orders for 30 more LNG-fuelled vessels in the month of May 2022 even as bunkering fuel prices were at elevated levels in ports such as Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
Spanish energy company Repsol, a maritime fuel sector participant with plans to re-fuel Spain-UK ferries with LNG, said the International Maritime Organization sulfur curbs had led to it selling around 150,000 metric tons of low-sulfur fuel at Spanish ports and nearly 1 million tons in Singapore.
