A huge floating LNG storage unit, the “Saam FSU”, arrived in Russian waters off Murmansk on June 25 as LNG developer Novatek re-organizes its trading logistics for the Yamal export plant and the new Arctic LNG II project as the Yamal facility also started a shutdown and maintenance programme.
Novatek, the operator of the Russian Yamal LNG plant and developer of the Arctic LNG II project, has signed a strategic agreement with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) on financing projects such as carbon-capture around its liquefaction and plants in northern Siberia.
Novatek Chief Executive Leonid Mikhelson said after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow that all three liquefaction Trains at the Arctic LNG II plant were scheduled to come on stream in a two-year time span from 2023.
