Stabilis Energy Inc., the provider and distributor of liquefied natural gas as a fuel for customers in North America, has extended its reach into Mexico with the completion of an acquisition and a key joint venture program.
Stabilis Energy, the US liquefied natural gas producer and supplier, said it had completed the acquisition of a majority interest in Prometheus Energy, a small-scale US LNG distributor.
Koch Industries, the multinational company controlled by entrepreneur Charles Koch, has seen its subsidiary Flint Hills Resources awarded a permit to export liquefied natural gas in containers from the US Gulf Coast.
The US Department of Energy has authorized Flint Hills Resources, based in Wichita, Kansas, to export around 120,000 gallons per day of LNG over a 20-year period from an existing small-scale liquefaction facility in George West, Texas.
