March 23 (LNGJ) - French major Total and China’s Shenergy Group, the leading energy player in the port of Shanghai, have signed binding agreements for the supply of up to 1.4 million tonnes per annum of LNG from Total, as well as the creation of a joint venture to expand LNG marketing in China. The joint venture, Total 49 percent and Shenergy 51 percent, will sell LNG supplied by Total to customers in Shanghai and throughout the neighbouring Yangtze River delta region.

   Additionally, Total will supply LNG to Shanghai Gas, the natural gas distribution subsidiary of Shenergy. “This deal with Shenergy Group is a great opportunity to partner with an experienced gas and LNG player with strong ambitions, as well as a unique entry point into the downstream LNG market in China,” said Stéphane Michel, President of Gas, Renewables and Power at Total.

Sept 30 (LNGJ) - Centrica, the UK utility and LNG market participant, has agreed to sell LNG to China under a long-term contract. The binding 15-year Sales and Purchase Agreement is for 500,000 tonnes per annum of supplies to the Shenergy Group. Deliveries are expected to start in 2024.

“We are delighted to conclude this agreement with Shenergy. The roots of our shared history date back over 150 years, to when British Gas helped install gas lighting in the streets of Shanghai,” said Chris O’Shea, Centrica’s Chief Executive. “This deal is a new milestone for our companies and complements Centrica’s existing portfolio of LNG positions and contracts,” added the CEO.

Jan 20 (LNGJ) - Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas has signed an agreement with the Chinese state-owned energy firm, Shenergy Group, to supply around 1.5 million tonnes per annum of LNG to Shenergy’s Wuhaogou facilities near Shanghai. 

   The heads of agreement is for a 12-year term starting from 2022 and will involve a shipping collaboration to construct and charter new mid-sized LNG vessels for the cargo deliveries. Petronas has been a major LNG supplier to Shenergy's subsidiary, Shanghai LNG Co., since 2006.

   “The long-term deal, which involves the delivery of mid-sized cargoes to unique LNG receiving terminals, is a testimony of Petronas’s commitment to customer-centricity and market adaptability,” said Adnan Zainal Abidin, the Malaysian company’s Chief Executive for Gas and New Energy.
