Qatar Petroleum confirms newbuilds tender for initial 60 new LNG carriers for expansion plan
Qatar Petroleum has issued an invitation to tender for the reservation of ship construction capacity mainly in South Korea for an initial 60 new LNG carriers to transport its volumes from the expansion of its Ras Laffan liquefaction plant in Middle East and its Golden Pass facility in the US Gulf Coast.

Qatar has said that qualified shipyards in South Korea were being invited to participate in a tender for the provision of newbuild slots for dozens of LNG carriers required for the expansion of the Gulf nation’s North Field resources and the building of up to four new processing Trains.

Qatargas, the world’s largest liquefied natural gas producer and with plans to take output to more than 100 million tonnes per annum, said it signed a 22-year agreement with PetroChina to supply Chinese import terminals with around 3.4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas.
