The American Bureau of Shipping, the US classification society, has granted an approval in principle (AIP) for a new Moss-type LNG tank design concept developed by Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industries to boost shipment capacity through the Panama Canal.
DNV GL, the European classification society, awarded Kawasaki Heavy Industries of Japan an approval in principle for its newly developed non-spherical Moss-type LNG storage tank.
Hoegh LNG, the Norwegian carrier owner and floating project specialist, said it had signed an agreement that would speed up the expansion of its floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) fleet by entering the carrier conversion market.
