May 5 (LNGJ) - Crowley Maritime Corp., the US shipping line, was holding a naming ceremony on May 5 at the Port of New Orleans for its vessel “Louisiana”, the latest of four new Jones Act product tankers capable of being converted to liquefied natural gas propulsion. The 50,000 dead-weight-tons, 330,000-barrel-capacity ship is among the first tankers to receive the American Bureau of Shipping’s LNG-Ready approval. The ship will operate in the US Gulf Coast and is capable of carrying crude oil or refined petroleum products for its charterer, Marathon Petroleum Corp.
