The Norwegian government has imposed compulsory arbitration under the labour laws to terminate strike action in the pay dispute involving onshore and offshore union members that could have halted more than half of Norway’s natural gas exports to Europe with effect from July 9.

Equinor, the Norwegian oil and gas company, has initiated a safe shutdown of the Gudrun, Oseberg South and Oseberg East offshore fields in the North Sea because of a strike and prolonged action could lead to a reduction in pipeline natural gas exports to Europe.

Equinor, the Norwegian supplier of pipeline natural gas and LNG to Europe, has made its sixth discovery on the Norwegian shelf so far in 2021 and the success was shared by Polish Oil and Gas Company.
