Shell has joined with the other UK-based major BP to file a complaint with the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) against LNG developer Venture Global claiming the Arlington, Virginia-based company was “illegally withholding information” about delays in delivering LNG from its Calcasieu Pass export plant in Louisiana.
Venture Global has applied to regulators to increase activities at the Plaquemines liquefied natural gas export project on the west bank of the Mississippi, about 30 miles south of New Orleans.
The US LNG export project developer Venture Global is facing environmental challenges with multiple filings from environmental activists to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for the proposed project at Calcasieu Pass in Cameron Parish in Louisiana, known as the CP2 LNG project.
The US Calcasieu Pass liquefied natural gas export plant has begun pre-commissioning activities and moved closer to being the nation’s seventh large-scale LNG exporter by the fourth quarter of 2021.
