Venture Global LNG Inc., the US liquefied natural gas developer involved in a dispute with many customers regarding the non-delivery of post-commissioning cargoes from the Calcasieu Pass project in Louisiana, plans to acquire nine LNG carriers to expand its worldwide sales especially of spot shipments.

The CERAWeek energy event in Houston is entering day four with an executive conference program on March 9 covering issues such as “Balancing Economic Growth and Reducing Emissions in Emerging Asia” and a discussion on the Latin American power industry after delegates heard on day three of half a dozen new projects including LNG production in Bahrain and Argentina.

The 41st edition of the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston attended by around 6,000 delegates focused on the second day on issues such as European and US natural gas and also on the main Texas commodity - crude oil.

CERAWeek, the five-day conference taking place in Houston and attended by around 5,500 delegates including leading LNG sector executives as well as politicians and officials, had a successful start discussing the “turbulent” world and energy markets and with one of the first speakers stressing that the energy transition must be an orderly process.

One of the world’s leading annual energy conferences, CERAWeek, was scheduled to begin in Houston on March 6 and will continue through March 10 with thousands of industry executives and politicians attending to consider the current turbulent global market.

TotalEnergies, the French energy major, said that Europe did not have enough liquefied natural gas import infrastructure for the number of cargoes required to make up for the Russian volumes cut by Western sanctions over the Ukraine invasion.

Venture Global, the US LNG company developing three export plants in Louisiana, said it expected to install the seventh and eighth liquefaction Trains by April at the most-advanced Calcasieu Pass facility and praised the modular method of construction.

Qatar and Saudi Arabia have spoken up for the LNG and oil export prospects of the Arab Gulf region and with both countries also embracing technologies for carbon-capture and renewable energies.

March 3 (LNGJ) - Canadian federal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau whose energy policies revolve around the wholesale reduction of greenhouse-gas emissions and have sunk many LNG export projects and sent costs soaring, will deliver a keynote address at the CeraWeek 2017 energy conference organized by IHS Markit for March 6-10 at the Hilton Americas in Houston. Trudeau will participate in a special plenary dialogue with Daniel Yergin, vice chairman of IHS Markit and conference chair on Thursday, March 9. He will also receive the CeraWeek Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award “in recognition of his commitment to sustainability in energy and the environment.”
