Construction has started in the US northeast state of Pennsylvania on the greenfield portion of the almost $3-billion Atlantic Sunrise pipeline project, an expansion of the Transco natural gas pipeline to connect Marcellus Shale supplies with markets in the Mid-Atlantic and in the south of the US where the LNG export build-out is concentrated.
Williams Partners, the US pipeline company, said regulators have authorized the Atlantic Sunrise expansion project, an expansion of the existing Transco gas pipeline to connect abundant Marcellus shale-gas supplies with markets in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast US where LNG export plants are being developed.
