The American Bureau of Shipping, the US classification society, said a small-scale LNG carrier, the world’s first such vessel to be fitted with an innovative cargo containment system based on IMO requirements for independent type A tanks, has been delivered to the shipping line from the Chinese shipbuilders.

April 5 (LNGJ) - The American Bureau of Shipping granted approval in principle to two new gas carrier designs from Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding of China. The two new vessel designs are for a 200,000 cubic metres capacity LNG carrier and a 147,000 cubic metres capacity Very Large Ethane Carrier.

   “ABS is proud to support the pioneering work of Hudong Zhonghua in the design and delivery of gas carriers,” said Eric Kleess, ABS Senior Vice President for Eastern Hemisphere Operations. “In reviewing novel gas carrier designs, ABS is able to draw on our extensive experience in classification, supporting the safer handling, storage and transport of gas,” added Kleess.

The American Bureau of Shipping, the US maritime classification society, built on its position as the principal classifier for Chinese LNG shipbuilders by granting approval to a new LNG carrier design at the Jiangnan Shipyard Group of Shanghai.

The American Bureau of Shipping, the US classification society, said it granted approval to a 174,000 cubic metres capacity LNG carrier being constricted at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China, strengthening its position in the Chinese market.

The American Bureau of Shipping, the US classification society ABS, has granted approval in principle to the Chinese Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group for its liquefied natural gas power supply vessel combining storage, regasification and power generation.
