The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved Delfin LNG’s request for an extension to bring online its onshore facilities.

The new startup date was set at 28th September, 2021.

According to local sources, Delfin had experienced difficulties in attracting LNG buyers, blaming the global pandemic, US/China trade disputes and the drop in global oil prices.

When built, the onshore facilities will deliver natural gas to Delfin LNG’s proposed deepwater port offshore Louisiana, which will consist of up to four FLNGs that could produce around 13 mill tonnes of LNG per annum.

Delfin is also developing the 8 mill tonnes per year Avocet LNG project, which could involve another two FLNGs
