China’s gas demand recovery to offset declines in Europe; IEA finds

With China’s industrial gas use rapidly rebounding, the country’s overall demand growth will rise 6 percent this year and LNG imports could jump up to 15 percent compared to 2022-levels, the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts. Fast rising gas demand in China and the Middle East is likely to offset a 5 percent decline in Europe in the long run as expanding renewables weigh on gas-fired generation.
