China’s state-owned Sinopec has signed a $60 billion agreement to buy 4 mtpa of LNG from QatarEnergy’s North Field East project for 27 years, starting from 2026. The deal marks China’s longest-reaching LNG supply accord to date, bolstering the country’s energy security at a time when Europe is scrambling for alternative, non-Russian gas supplies.
